INDIA(!)- Dua pasangan ganda putra Indonesia Angga Pratama/Ricky Karanda Suwardi dan Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo melaju ke semifinal turnamen bulutangkis India Terbuka 2017.
Namun nasib baik tidak mengikuti tunggal putra Indonesia Tommy Sugiarto karena harus tersingkir di putaran perempat final. Tommy ditumbangkan unggulan enam asal Hong Kong, Ng Ka Long Angus.
Dari laman resmi BWF disebutkan Angga/Ricky melaju ke semifinal turnamen berlevel superseries tersebut setelah menyudahi perlawanan duet Taiwan Lee Jhe-Huei/Lee Yang 22-20, 25-23.
Dengan hasil tersebut Indonesia hanya menyisakan dua tempat dalam putaran semifinal turnamen India Terbuka 2017, melalui sektor ganda putra oleh Angga/Ricky dan Marcus/Kevin.
Di partai empat besar, Angga/Ricky akan menghadapi unggulan lima asal China, Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen, yang berhasil menyingkirkan unggulan pertama Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong (Malaysia) 21-15, 21-17.
Ini merupakan pertemuan kedua kalinya bagi kedua pasangan itu, setelah di pertarungan pertama dalam turnamen Indonesia Masters 2015, pasangan China berhasil unggul tiga game 21-12, 17-21, 21-14.
Sedangkan Marcus/Kevin akan menghadapi duo Denmark unggulan tujuh, Mads Conrad Petersen/Mads Pieler Kolding yang menumbangkan duet Kim Jae Hwan/Yoo Yeon Seong 21-10, 21-17.
Pertemuan ini bagi Marcus/Kevin merupakan yang keempat kalinya, di mana pasangan yang sekarang berperingkat satu dunia itu tertinggal dengan satu kali kemenangan berbanding dua untuk duet Denmark.
