YOGYAKARTA (tandaseru) – Bandara Internasional Yogyakarta atau New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA) merupakan bandara baru di Provinsi DIY yang telah beroperasi April 2019.
Bandara ini terletak di Kecamatan Temon, Kabupaten Kulon Progo, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Luas terminalnya mencapai 180.000 meter persegi.
NYIA disebut-sebut mampu menampung hingga 14 juta penumpang per tahun. Kapasitas NYIA ini hampir mencapai sembilan kali lipat dibandingkan dengan Bandara Adisutjipto yang hanya dapat menampung 1,6 juta penumpang.
Nantinya sesuai dengan luasan lahan tersebut, Bandara NYIA mampu menampung 21 pesawat domestik dan 2 pesawat internasional untuk parkir.
Namun yang hebatnya, Bandara yang terletak di pinggri pantai selatan Provinsi DIY ini ternyata dirancang secara seksama sehingga tahan terhadap gempa dengan magnitudo 8,8. Area tersebut juga kuat apabila diterpa tsunami yang diakibatkan oleh gempa di dasar laut.
NYIA disebut-sebut juga merupakan contoh bandara yang paling siap dalam mengantisipasi potensi gempa dan tsunami karena dilengkapi sistem pemantauan gempa bumi dan peringatan dini tsunami.
Sistem deteksi gempa dan tsunami itu diperkuat dengan sensor accelerometer 1 buah, sensor intensitymeter 2 buah, Earthquake Early Warning System 1 buah. Selain itu, juga sedang disiapkan radar untuk memonitor gelombang tinggi dan tsunami.
Sensor gempa bumi di YIA terhubung dengan jaringan BMKG Pusat di Kemayoran, Jakarta Pusat, dan diperkuat dengan back up sistem di BMKG Denpasar-Bali.
Dengan begitu, deteksi gempa dan tsunami dapat dipantau dari jarak jauh serta rekam data aman karena terdapat back up system.
Sistem deteksi gempa dan tsunami di NYIA dirancang agar dapat memberi peringatan cepat jika terjadi gempa bumi. Apabila sewaktu-waktu terjadi gempa maka dalam waktu 3 sampai dengan 5 menit dapat segera diketahui posisi pusat gempa, besar magnitudo gempa dan potensi tsunaminya.
Info gempa dan potensi tsunami secara otomatis dapat terpantau di terminal bandara, kantor BMKG Bandara NYIA dan di Crisis Center Bandara YIA, sehingga dapat dilakukan respons segera dengan tepat.
